iTheatre Collaborative began on some bar napkins at the Ragin' Cajun back in the Fall of
2001. Husband and wife, Chris Haines and Rosemary Close, co-founded the theatre in April of 2002. Some of our most notable
productions were: the world premiere of the iTheatre created “August in April: a Tribute to August Wilson’s Life
and Legacy” (performed at the 2007 Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, AK); the Southwest regional premieres
of “TopDog/UnderDog” (performed at the 2005 National Black Theater Festival in Winston Salem, N.C. and the 2006
Black Arts Movement Festival in Austin, TX), “Bee-Luther-Hatchee” and “Underneath the Lintel”, the
AIDS plays “Lonely Planet” and “The Baltimore Waltz”, and Absurdist plays like “The Maids”
and “Gallows Humor” (both of which are rarely seen or appreciated).
Our Collaborations
iTheatre has benefitted from a unique partnership with the Herberger Theater Center to produce our seasons in their
Performance OutReach Theater. We have also collaborated in some of our productions with such educational institutions as the
Interdisciplinary Arts & Performance Dept. at A.S.U.,’s West Campus, Brooklyn College and South Mountain Community
College as well as other theater organizations like Theater Works, the National Black Theater Festival, ProArts Collective
and the Last Frontier Theater Conference.
